Arthritis ….every disease has treatment said prophet Muhammad S.A.W
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Arthritis is a broad term that covers a group of over 100 diseases. It has everything to do with someone’ joints; the places where bones connect, such as : wrists, knees, hips, or fingers.
Some types of arthritis can also affect other connective tissues and organs, including heart, kidneys, liver, eyes, ears and even skin.
There are more than 100 types of arthritis include rheumatoid arthritis and gout.
Rheumatoid Arthritis is caused by a misguided immune system attack on the body’s own joint tissue, leading to pain, swelling and stiffness in the joints, in other words; Arthritis is a joint disorder featuring inflammation. A joint is an area of the body where two different bones meet. Joint functions to move the body parts connected by their bones. Arthritis literally means inflammation of one or more joints.
Arthritis, accompanied by joint pain is referred to as “arthralgia“. When four or more joints are involved, the arthritis is referred to as “polyarthritis“. When two or three joints are involved, it is referred to as “oligoarthritis“. When only a single joint is involved, it is referred to as “monoarthritis“.
NOTE : Because all of allopathic drugs/medications put the brakes on some types of the immune system, that’s why all they can make people more vulnerable to infections. Newer researched medicines against Arthritis carries higher risks of heart attack, stroke and cancer than older RA drugs. FDA has changed the labeling of the medication, as well as two others in the same drug class, known as JAK inhibitors. Cortisone injections have gotten a bad rap in recent years as a treatment for arthritis pain, because steroids are known to damage cartilage and could potentially cause the joint to further deteriorate. NSAIDs and TNF inhibitors are linked to slightly increased risks of some types of cancers, including lymphoma and skin cancer.
Types of Arthritis :
Some of the more common types of arthritis are:
Common arthritis symptoms of pain and stiffness are usually caused by degenerative arthritis (osteoarthritis – the most common chronic joint condition).
Osteoarthritis: The most common type. It causes the cartilage on the ends of bones to wear away. That makes the bones rub against each other. Patient might have pain in his/her fingers, knees or hips.
The cartilage breakdown, or degeneration, of osteoarthritis often happens with age. This is why osteoarthritis is also called degenerative joint disease. But if there are other causes, it can begin much sooner. For example, an athletic injury like a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) or a fracture near a joint can lead to arthritis. It can happen in any joint but most often affects the hands and weight-bearing joints such as the knee, hip, and facet joints (in the spine).
Rheumatoid arthritis: This long-lasting disease can affect joints in any part of the body but most often involves the hands, wrists, and knees.
With rheumatoid arthritis, the immune system (the body’s defense system against disease) mistakenly attacks the joints and causes the joint lining to swell. The inflammation spreads to the nearby tissues and can damage cartilage and bone. In more severe cases, rheumatoid arthritis can affect other areas of the body, such as the skin, eyes, and nerves.
Gout
This is a painful condition that happens when the body can’t get rid of uric acid (a natural substance). The excess uric acid forms needle-like crystals in the joints that cause marked inflammation with swelling and severe pain. Gout most often affects the big toe, knee, and wrist joints.
Over time, that systemic inflammation can feed problems in other areas of the body (heart, lungs, skin, liver, kidneys and eyes).
What Causes Arthritis ?
Age. Over time, your joints tend to get worn down. That’s why the risk of developing arthritis, especially osteoarthritis, goes up with age.
Excess weight. Being overweight puts extra stress on weight-bearing joints, increasing wear and tear and the risk of arthritis, especially osteoarthritis.
Injuries. They can cause joint damage that can bring on some types of the condition.
Infection. Bacteria, viruses, or fungi can infect joints and trigger inflammation.
Symptoms
Different types of arthritis have different symptoms that can vary in severity from person to person.
Osteoarthritis does not generally cause any symptoms outside the joint. Symptoms of other types of arthritis may include fatigue, fever, rash and signs of joint inflammation for example :
- Pain.
- Swelling.
- Stiffness.
- Tenderness.
- Redness.
- Warmth/Burning sensation.
- Joint deformity.
Diagnosis
Physical exam. X-rays are used to diagnose osteoarthritis, often showing a loss of cartilage, bone spurs, and in severe cases, bone rubbing against bone.
Test of joint fluid. Sometimes, joint aspiration (using a needle to draw a small sample of fluid from the joint for testing) is used to tell osteoarthritis from other types.
Allopathic arthritis treatment
The allopathic drug’s goal of treatment is to provide pain relief, increase joint mobility and strength, and control the disease as much as possible.
In addition to painkillers, allopathic doctor may recommend corticosteroid joint injections to ease the pain and stiffness of affected joints (which will potentially cause the joint to further deteriorate).
Allopathic treatments available include:
- Physical therapy
- Home remedies and dieting regime
- Alternate medication
- Splinting
- Cold-pack application
- Paraffin wax dips
- Anti-inflammatory drugs
- Pain medications (ranging from pain-relieving over-the-counter medications such as acetaminophen, diclofenac, tramadol, gabapentin, acetaminophen, oxycodone, oxycontin, naproxen, piroxicam. meloxicam, hydrocodone, tylenol, ibuprofen etc…to narcotics)
- Immunosuppressants/Immune-altering medications
- Biologic medications (Homeopathic)
- Surgical operations (including joint replacement surgery)
Pain from osteoarthritis of the knee can be relieved by hyaluronic acid injections. Rheumatoid arthritis can require medications that suppress the immune system (disease-modifying medications). Low back arthritis that is irritating the nerves of the spine can require surgical repair.
